Raymond B. Nekuza, 89, passed away in Ennis, Texas on Friday, February 7, 2020.

Raymond was born in Ennis, Texas on October 22, 1930 to Anton and Annie (Kudrna) Nekuza. He grew up in Ennis and graduated from St. John High School in 1948. On April 25, 1953 Raymond married the love of his life Georgia Ann Prachyl and they made their home in Ennis. Raymond served proudly in the United States Air Force from 1948 until 1953.

Raymond worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad for over thirty-two years as a Car Man and for the Texas Department of Highways for ten years on the Road Crew until retiring in 1994. Raymond was a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church and the KJT. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and Polka dancing. His family was the joy of his life.

He is survived by his loving wife of over sixty-six years, Georgia Ann Nekuza; children: Sandra Dennie and husband, Joel, LaVerne Waldrop and husband, Rick, Paul Nekuza and wife, Shelley; grandchildren: Aaron and wife, Angie, Tyler, Rylee and husband, Brent and Caleb; great-grandchildren: Grant, Olivia and Dallas along with a host of extended family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a son, Daniel Raymond Nekuza, daughter, Denise Elaine Nekuza, grandson, Chadwick Daniel Ryan, one brother and four sisters.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis with Rosary at 7 p.m.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2020 at 10 a.m. in the St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church of Ennis with Father Fred Caldwell as celebrant and Tyler Dennie as Altar Server. Pallbearers will be Aaron Nekuza, Caleb Nekuza, Grant Nekuza, Jeff Prachyl, Dennis Nekuza and Louis Zabojnik. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Raymond’s name to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.
