Raymond J. Haba

Raymond J. Haba, 83, passed away Saturday, July 9, 2022, in Bardwell, Texas. The community lost a long time, valued neighbor and friend. He lived in Bardwell for over 60 years and was a hardworking, modest man with a deep Catholic faith.

Raymond was born on July 23, 1938, to the parents of Louis and Louise Haba and had fond memories of growing up on the family farm with his siblings. After graduating St. John’s High School in 1957, Raymond began working at Ennis Business Forms where he would retire after more than 50 years of service. He did this all while working his own ranch which was his greatest passion. Raymond loved being outdoors and working on his property which is evident in its beauty still today. In recent years, Raymond revelled in doing this work with his son, Bryan by his side. He also delighted in conversations with his family over a meal.

An usher at church for more than three decades, Raymond was a life-long member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church. In recent years, he appreciated and would not miss the weekly broadcast of Mass on television.

Raymond will be dearly missed by his beloved wife of 36 years, Pat Haba ; one son, Bryan Haba; daughter, Kelly Griffith; his cherished 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; sister, Agnes Haba; sister, Mary Pecot; sister, Theresa Struffert; and brother, Wesley Haba. Also left behind is Whiteczki, his loyal spotted dog. Preceding him in passing include his daughter, Karen Haba, brother, Daniel Haba and sister, Martha Ritchey.

Funeral Liturgy outside Mass was held at Boze Mitchell McKibbin Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, July 15, 2022, at 10 a.m. with Father Fred Caldwell as Celebrant. The family received friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a Rosary at 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 14, 2022, at the Boze-Mitchell-Mckibbin Funeral Home Chapel in Ennis.
