Shirley Lou (Walker) Minter

Shirley Lou (Walker) Minter, 83, passed away in Waxahachie, Texas on Tuesday, September 15, 2020.

Shirley was born in Ennis, Texas on September 7, 1937 to Jimmy H. and Viola Janie (Hill) Walker. Shirley grew up in Ennis and attended school in Ennis. On May 1, 1954 Shirley married Wayne Cordell Minter and they made their home in Ennis.

Shirley worked for Ennis Business Forms for fifteen years as a binder, for The Smart Shop as the owner eight years and as the manager of The Wright Shoppe for twenty years. Shirley was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church and the Rebecca Lodge. She enjoyed spending time with her family especially her granddaughters and greatgrandchildren. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed watching cooking shows.

Shirley is survived by her husband of sixty-six years, Wayne Minter; son, Mike Minter and wife, Mary; granddaughters: Dianna Glenn and husband, Joe and DeLayna Minter; great-grandchildren: Ava, Jackson, Kate and Troy; brothers in law: Eugene Minter and Larry Minter; along with a special niece, Debbie and her husband, Marcello DeLaCruz, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents, seven brothers and four sisters.

Visitation was held on Friday, September 18, 2020 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis.

A Celebration of her life was held on Saturday, September 19, 2020 at 10 a.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis with Rev. James Patterson officiating. Pallbearers were Joe Glenn, Marcello DeLaCruz, Jaylyn DeLaCruz, Jimmy Madewell, Lyle Ryan and Jackson Glenn. Interment followed in Myrtle Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
