Thomas Cornelius Glassett, Jr.

Thomas Cornelius Glassett Jr. died peacefully on February 25th, 2022 at the exact age of 99 years old. He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah February 25th, 1923 to parents Thomas Cornelius Sr. and Sophronia Dennis Glassett. He was the youngest of four children who have already preceded him in death.

At the age of 20 he enlisted in the Army Air Corp and served for 3 years in WWII. He received an American Theatre of Operations Service Ribbon, the Asian Pacific Theatre Service Ribbon, a Good Conduct Medal, and a Victory Medal for his service. He was honorably discharged in Jan 1946. For a brief time after his discharge he worked for his father-in-law Alfred Smith before taking a sales position at McCormick where he was recognised as a top salesman nationwide.

In 1946 he married Betty Smith and together they had four children, Kathryn McGuire (72), Richard Glassett (69), Charles Glasset (d.38), and Mary Koetting (61). They lived together in San Antonio until she passed in 1993; they were married for 47 joyful years. Tom moved to Dallas to be closer to family, where he met Margaret Fisher. They were happily married for 15 years and volunteered together at the Baptist Mission Service Corp until Margaret passed in Oct. 2010.

After a 3 year stay in San Antonio with son Richard and wife Celia, Tom moved back to Waxahachie where he lived independently until age 96. In 2019 he became a resident of Legend Oaks nursing home in Ennis, Tx. While there he survived two bouts with Covid but succumbed to a stroke that caused his passing. He will be remembered as a very kind man and was loved by all.

He is preceded in death by grandson Logan (17 months), wife Betty (63), son Charles (38), wife Margaret (86), son-in-law Gareld (66), granddaughter Tiffany (27), son-in-law Jim Reed (70).

He is survived by his children on Glassett side; widowed Kathryn, Richard and wife Celia, Mary and husband Paul. Grandchildren Mickey, Jackie and husband John, Paul Ryan and wife Tamara, Marissa and wife Kassie, and Katrina. And 9 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. On the Fisher side he is survived by daughters Sherri and husband David, Laura and husband Richard, Cyndi and husband Phil. Grandchildren Jim and wife Meg, Michelle, Melody, and John with 1 one great grand child.

Services for Thomas Glassett will take place at Boze Mitchell Mckibbin Funeral Home in Waxahachie, on Tuesday March 1st, 2022. Viewing at 9am, service at 10am, with burial to follow at Restland Cemetery in Dallas, Texas.
