Wayne Cordel Minter

Wayne Cordel Minter, 90, passed away in Ennis, Texas on Wednesday, April 6, 2022.

Wayne was born in Bardwell, Texas on September 21, 1931, to Charlie and Opal (Wilson) Minter. He grew up in Bardwell and attended school in Bardwell and Ennis. On May 1, 1954, he married the love of his life Shirley Lou Walker, and they made their home in Ennis.

Wayne worked for Ennis Business Forms for over forty-four years as a printer, for Mike’s Delivery Inc. for twenty-one years, for Ennis ISD as a school bus driver and for Randall Hunter Sand and Gravel. Wayne was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Ennis where he served as a deacon and the IOOF Lodge in Ennis. Wayne enjoyed spending time with his family and fishing.

Wayne is survived by his son, Mike Minter and wife, Mary; grandchildren: Dianna Glenn and husband, Joe and DeLayna Minter; great-grandchildren: Ava, Jackson, Kate and Troy; brothers: Larry Minter and Eugene Minter along with a special niece Debbie DeLaCruz and her husband, Marcello as well as numerous nieces and nephews, along with a host of extended friends and family.

Wayne is preceded in death by his parents, his wife of over sixty-six years, Shirley Minter and one sister, Edna Beasley.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 15, 2022, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis.

A Celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2022, at 10 a.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel of Ennis with Rev. James Patterson officiating. Interment will follow in Myrtle Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc. Pallbearers will be: Jackson Glenn, Troy Glenn, MarCello DeLaCruz, Jaylyn DeLaCruz, David Hunter, Jimmy McCullough, Lyle Ryan and Ney Blackburn.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund would be graciously accepted in memory of Wayne.
