The story goes that a young man who was watching his flock of sheep outside of town, thought it funny to cry “wolf” and laugh and laugh as the town folk rushed to his aid to fight an imaginary foe. Crying out so often, town folk became slower and slower and fewer and fewer until finally they didn’t respond at all.

As it happens in these tales of woe, a real wolf eventually did come and beg…
