Everyone is talking about the election and who did what to whom and when these days. I’m weary of this type of news. What else is going on in the world? I’m sure not everyone is focused on the evils of socialism and capitalism.

Dear readers, After a thousand-plus weekly columns, I am going to hang up my columnist spurs and do what I was born to do: Wash dishes in a fast-food restaurant. Every column I ever wrote was made immeasurably better by my editors, so I want to leave you with one of their best efforts. My thanks for all your kind words. - Jim

Super Tuesday, as usual, is a big deal for the national candidates. We will turn to that later. In Texas, it is also a big deal for the State and local races. Representative in all phases of government including our state legislature and the political future of Texas is up for grabs. Will Texas be Red or Blue in 2020?

This week’s preposterous display by Democrats is just another example of why we’re still waiting for the party whose symbol is turning into a literal showing of the northern end of a southbound train.

Somewhere along the way on a 300-mile journey to Alabama, I lost my voice. By the time I prepared to travel home, my voice had not returned to me.

Since a national and state holiday was held on Monday, Feb. 17, in recognition of Presidents Day, more specifically the first, George Washington, perhaps we can reflect on the iconic sculpture, which is now 79 years old.

Early voting begins on Tuesday and will run through February 28. This is our chance to vote if we are able or do not wish to stand in line as long on March 3.
