On the strength of a, 11-1 demolition of Corsicana (8-14-1) on Thursday night, Ennis punched their ticket for a first round berth in the playoffs next weekend. Now 18-9 overall and 8-6 in District 15-5A, the Lady Lions will have a tall order in a Bestof- Three series against No. 4 ranked Lake Belton.

Led by HC Natalie Keeton, Ferris (13-2-2) rallied for three runs in the top of the seventh on Thursday to scalp Alvarado, 4-2. Junior Madeline Welling (.321, 25 RBI) knocked in two of the runs as the Yellowjackets ended the season third place by going 4-3 down the stretch.

Ennis had 95 players, varsity and junior varsity, at practice this week. The number did not include out-going seniors. HC Don Drake had the offense working on new twists to the passing and running games, where speed was a premium.

Senior Night, an 11-1 shellacking of Corsicana, saw Ennis honor their lone senior tandem of centerfielder and future North Texas recruit, Kaycee Slovak, and 5’11 first baseman Alana Prestige.
