Ranked No. 1 heading into a season that could end in a sixth state championship brings with it great anticipation. Ennis football knows a thing or two about Lions being the king of the jungle, and the 2020 season has a ring to it.

Led by an offense that averaged 53.4 points per game, former Red Oak Head Coach Chris Ross rolled to an 11-2 season before bolting to Lucas Lovejoy in February. He left assistant coach Michael Quintero, now the HC, with plenty in the cupboard. And thanks to a recent transfer, the Hawks just got better.

Big 5 Football is less than two months from taking the field at Ennis, Ferris, Palmer, Italy and Avalon, and how the description of games will be done is anyone’s guess.

Two popular sports leagues for kids, baseball and soccer, disappeared during the spring due to the COVID-19. But not completely. The Ennis Parks and Recreation Department is stepping in to provide local youth, boys and girls, ages 6-to- 12, with a taste of both sports.
