Bryce Anderson and Shannon Cook are pleased to announce their upcoming marriage on Saturday, September 26, 2026, in Ennis, Texas. Shannon is the daughter of Jeff and Kaye Cook, and Bryce is the son of John Anderson and Nancy Seay Anderson.

Dallas-Fort Worth artist Angelo Gomez will present a live acrylic painting demonstration Sept. 3 at the Ellis County Art Association first monthly meeting on the new Thursday schedule. The meeting will be held at First Baptist Church of Waxahachie (450 US287 BYP).

Ferris Independent School District elevated Dr. De’Andre Carter to Assistant Superintendent of Operations in June. Previously the principal at Ferris High School, he also served in leadership within Greenville ISD, A.W. Brown Leadership Academy, and Dallas ISD, including Principal, Dean of Students, and Teacher/Coach.

07/1/2026 - Ennis ISD announced today it will operate the Community Eligibility Program (CEP)undertheNationalSchoolLunchProgram and School Breakfast Program for the 2026-2027 school year. All schools will qualify to operate CEP serve breakfast and lunch to all children at no charge and eliminate the collection of meal applications for free, reduced-price, and paid student meals. This approach reduces burdens for both families and school administrators and helps ensure that students receive nutritious meals.

Ennis resident Sergio Hernandez comes from a family of construction workers and has helped them since he was 12. But he knew he wanted to do something different.

Art lovers and collectors will have the opportunity to purchase original works from Ellis County artists during the Ellis County Art Association’s Sizzling Summer Art Show July 17-22 at the Beaudry Gallery in downtown Waxahachie. The exhibit will feature landscapes, portraits, wildlife, still life and other subjects in oil, watercolor, pastel, photography and three-dimensional art.

Lifting the Scandinavian colors, a red field with a dark blue Nordic cross outlined in white, are Ennis freshman Eli and his dad David Espedal, during a World Cup match in Dallas. Erling Haaland scored the game-winning goal in the 86th minute as Norway edged Ivory Coast, 2-1. The 6’5 Viking wears No. 9 and is hugely popular.

Ennis historical group, Parsons Camp, received a special tour of thousands of artifacts and documents from the Civil War at the Pearce Museum. Located at Navarro College, a significant trove of 17,000 relics date back to the American Civil War from 1861 to 1865, are on display.

A sunny and warm, patriotic Saturday turned into festive celebration of America’s Independence in downtown Ennis. While the farmers market took place on North Dallas Street, scores of young children, young people and families rode decorated tricycles, wagons and bikes.
