Former Ennis standout baseball player, Kyle Keever, who then played four years at McMurray University and was an assistant coach this past year at Ennis, accepted a coaching offer at Class 6A state champion Southlake Carroll.

In just over a week, Ennis volleyball players will take to the court in earnest to prepare for the soon-coming season. HC Kelly Henderson begins her fifth campaign, and will do so with a pair of new varsity assistants in Jordan Southerland and Sierra Mihailov.

As consistent as a carousel, Ennis Cross Country HC Lonnie Redning is entering his 26th year of early morning runs and driving young harriers towards improving their performance. Not only does he coach XC, but he also heads up varsity girls track and field.

Junior Peyton Bruce, who played throughout the off-season, gained experience at setter and libero last fall. She will be battling for the starting gig at setter when camp opens on Monday, Aug. 1.

Banking on a storied past, new football HC at Italy, Lee Wilkins, is not lacking for vim and vigor. Following three consecutive seasons where the Gladiators have gone 15-1 in district play, 27-9 overall, while picking up one or two playoff wins each time, Wilkins says he has no plans to change their strategies.

Where would Ennis be without their Swiss Army Knife? A multiple pocket tool, Jace Berry can play a slew of positions without asking for instructions. Entering his senior year, his role is immeasurable for Ennis.

Coaches typically solidify their line-up during the early part of their schedule. Once the all-important district season begins, starters will have earned most all of the action.
