Hosting Mansfield Summit in a non-district game last Saturday, April 3, turned a clash of playoff contenders into a one-sided game in which Ennis flattened the ‘Cats in a 10-0 drubbing.

First place Ennis, riding a five-game district winning streak, gift-wrapped a 3-2 road win for Joshua on Tuesday, March 29. The setback dropped Ennis to 8-9-1 overall, but more importantly, 5-3 in District 14-5A.

Head Coach Joe West has Ferris baseball proving its mettle heading into the stretch drive of the season. If recent performances are a true indication, his Yellowjackets are sharpening their pitching skills like blue-grade steel.

Nestor Higuera booted a 46-yard field goal on the game’s final play to give No. 14 ranked Arizona Christian a 23-20 road win over Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) on March 27 in Waxahachie.

Southwestern Assemblies of God University has announced their 2021 fall football schedule, with six of eleven dates on the road. Four of the away games are out-of-state in Kansas, Louisiana, Arizona and Oklahoma.

Freshman third baseman Emily Barnard had a hot week, going 4-for-8 at the plate. She clubbed a double and a home run, scored four times and drove in three for HC Korey Plough’s Palmer softball team.

Ennis junior pitcher Aubree Lalani pitched a nineinning game at home against Joshua on Tuesday. She allowed five hits, three runs, two of them earned, walked seven and hit one batter. The number that nearly won the game was striking out 19 batters.

Palmer senior Hayden Beasley will continue playing baseball at the college level after signing with Arlington Baptist University last week.
