District 14-5A champion, Lancaster (29-5), reached the state championship in boys basketball with a 44-31 throttling of Amarillo (34-5) on Thursday in San Antonio. The matchup could be a defensive stalemate if the semi-final action carries over into Saturday’s title game.

Former All-State track star at Avalon High School, Ryan Ozymy, was named All-Region (Great Lakes Region) in the 800 meter run for the 2024 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Season by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
