Following a unanimous 7-0 vote by the Waxahachie ISD school board, on February 9, the district elevated Lawrence Williams from Defensive Coordinator to the head coach of the Indians football team. One of the political races sure to attract national attention is the battle for the state senate seat in Austin. John Cornyn, the senior Texas senator, is facing a stern fight in the March 3 Republican primary. Should he win on Tuesday, he will face either Jasmine Crockett or James Talarico in November.

Tuesday’s March 3 runoff between David Espedal and Chad Wester will determine the successor for Lynda Isbell’s unexpired former position – Mayor Pro Tem.

Ennis Fire Department officials were awarded for obtaining best practice standards by the Texas Fire Chiefs Association during the Feb. 17 City Commission meeting at City Hall. There are over 100 standards to reach, and the pursuit of the recognition was the first ever for the EFD.
