Avalon wings their way to wins
Avalon loves their high-flying Eagles basketball team. They swept three teams to capture their annual tournament last week. Now 6-3, the Orange Wings have a three-game winning streak after playing their best stretch of hoops this season. They romped past Mount Calm, 66-33, and then had to earn a 49-40 victory against Wortham. The last contest ended in a 64 46 win over rival Milford. HC John De La Garza has united the Eagles after three early defeats, one of them on a three-ball at the buzzer against Groesbeck. Italy looked solid in an 11-point margin (63-52) over the Birds of Prey, and then came a 58-49 setback to Rice (4-2).
