Local businessman and lifelong Ennis citizen, David Espedal, has made public his plan to run for the soon-to-be-vacant Mayor Pro Tem seat on the City Commission.

Four candidates currently campaigning

A windy and sunny Tuesday provided the setting for a one-hour Veterans Day Remembrance Rally at Ennis’ Veterans Park. Hundreds were on hand for the tribute to those who have, or are, or will serve America in a branch of the military.

Submitted Photo The Century Club recently held a meeting at the historic home of Judy Connatser on Sherman Street. Pat Warren presented the program providing an interesting history of Fort Worth and the Fort Worth Stockyards Historic District which was formed in 1876 with the arrival of the railroads. By 1907, the cattle industry in the stockyard sold a million cattle a year. This program is one of many over the next year following the theme of “Exploring Texas Landmarks & Monuments”.

Ennis Band & Choir to perform

Tuesday’s City Commission meeting, which had a short list of agenda items, included one that drew plenty of back-and-forth about two bids for Christmas lighting and décor. It was eventually tabled for a week and will be discussed further at a specially called meeting for 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 12, at City Hall.

Ten Military Class Marching Bands competed in Waco during October 28-29, with Ennis finishing seventh. The venue was held at Baylor’s McLane Stadium.

Begun in the Graff’s garage, directional drilling hits paydirt

Ennis resident and mayoral hopeful, Maxwell Quattlebaum, has filed paperwork at City Hall to launch a campaign for mayor of Ennis. In fact, he is the first to make his plans official.
