Many local high school football games, previously set for Friday, October 24, changed their schedule to avoid the threat of heavy rains.

One of the most influential civic organizations in town, the Ennis Garden Club, has their sights set on the 2026 Bluebonnet Season. In fact, members of the group were busy planting bluebonnet seeds this past weekend at various locations around the city.

Business of the City of Ennis continued at Tuesday’s Commission meeting, including the news of Mayor Pro Tem Lynda Isbel announcing that she had resigned on October 15.

Tuesday, November 4, voters will decide whether to approve proposed changes to the Texas Constitution. A total of 17 state constitutional amendments will appear on the ballot, each of them posted on the Texas Secretary of State website.

Friday morning, Oct. 17, a vehicle crashed into an entrance at the I-45 Ennis Buc-ee’s, pinning a shopper against a sales display. Moments later, the driver shot himself in the head.

School Board Trustees of the Ennis Independent School District met Tuesday to discuss a variety of reports and approve initiatives aimed at academic achievement, campus safety, and district operations. Chief among the topics was below-average grades at three campuses; Bowie Elementary, Jack Lummus Intermediate and Ennis Junior High.
