Transformation
Looking at some of the images and parables of Jesus, one can notice many of them are about things that are lost. There are four parables about things lost or hidden. Why are so many about things lost or hidden unless the message is about seeing? Things appear to be lost that are not obvious at first glance: the treasure hidden in the field (Matt 13:44); the yeast hidden in the flour (Matt 13:33); the lost coin (Luke 15:8) and the lost sheep (Matt 18:12). When things are lost we are required to go search. We must admit that what we are looking for is not obvious. We have to want to see it, and we have to learn how to see.
