Playing off-season volleyball for three straight years has prepared Ennis senior Brooke Robinson for her swan-song season on the hardcourt. A 5’7” defensive specialist, she is contending for the libero (lib-AIR-oh) position, which is critical to stopping scoring-runs by the opponent, or sparking the offense with passes to the setter. She has suited up for both the Bandits Volleyball Club and the Texas Advantage for three years.
The house that Joe built
A stone’s throw from progress lies history. Ennis ISD’s expansion of facilities on the site of the old Lions Stadium and gymnasium almost a decade ago originally threatened the nearby Novy House but its owner, Mary Ann Lamkin, stood firm. Although in time she sold sections of her land to accommodate the current site of Jack Lummus Intermediate, she never considered selling her historic home.
SPCA of Texas acquires Ellis County SPCA
The SPCA of Texas is pleased to announce the acquisition of the Ellis County SPCA, effective July 1, 2020. The transaction includes acquiring the property and one building, as well as assuming the responsibilities for animal sheltering and returns to owner or adoptions for 1,500 loose and stray animals in Ellis County each year.

Ennis, Texas – Ennis Regional Medical Center recently announced that Terri Allen has been recognized as the hospital’s 2020 Mercy Award winner.
