Ennis’ most recognized service organization, the Garden Club recently named its officers for the next year. Fresh from the most attended Bluebonnet Festival & Trails in its history, President Annie Wartsbaugh passed the baton to the civic group’s new leader in Nancy Swindell.

One of the leading ladies of Ennis, Nancy Swindell, is seldom far from the front lines. She is pretty as spring flowers, as creative as a dream and as original as a painter with a blank canvas.

Meeting the new superintendent of the Ennis Independent School District, Dr. Greg Bradley, it is quickly apparent why he was a unanimous choice of the seven-member Board of Trustees.

Long live the National Polka Festival. The 59th edition came to town last weekend during May 23-25, highlighted by the King & Queen Dance Contest on Friday, the Polka Parade on Saturday, and a list of winners through Sunday that sent crowds home happy.

Palmer Independent School District has narrowed down a list of 60 candidates for their open superintendent position. The district, with approximately 1,338 students, has three campuses at the elementary, middle school and high school levels.
