When the University of Georgia hosted its spring commencement ceremonies on Friday, May 9 in Sanford Stadium, Ennis alum Collin Drake was one of the over 8,000 who received their diplomas.

Completing a career circle, Jay Tullos, who announced his retirement after six-years as superintendent of the Ennis Independent School District, has been rehired by the Douglass ISD in East Texas.

Ennis Parks & Recreation announced on May 14 the re-opening of the 10am Splash Pad at Rotary Park. Located on the City’s NW side at 2300 Park Street, which connects with N. Preston St. N. Clay St. also ends on Park St at what previously was known as Kiwanis Park.

The Ellis County Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service is proud to announce a collaborative initiative with ThinkFast Interactive, Watch UR BAC, and Palmer High School to educate students on critical safety and health topics. This partnership aims to engage students in interactive learning experiences that address issues such as underage drinking, distracted driving, substance misuse, and other topics.

An Ennis resident and area school high school teacher, Logan Treadaway, suggested that Ennis Independent School District join the list of area schools who livestream their school board meetings. He shared his thoughts during Tuesday’s Citizen Comment section of the EISD board meeting.

TEA measures individual school grades

Four seniors were recipients of Kevin Culpepper Scholarships during the Ennis High School awards ceremony on May 5. The four $1,000 winners were announced by the Rotary Club civic organization, which awarded annually.

Voters delivered a huge victory for families in Ferris schools by approving a bond package of $134.7 million. The May 3rd results will advance educational facilities for a city that doubled its size in the past five years.
