Varsity to appear in Macy’s Parade

Long live the National Polka Festival. The 59th edition came to town last weekend during May 23-25, highlighted by the King & Queen Dance Contest on Friday, the Polka Parade on Saturday, and a list of winners through Sunday that sent crowds home happy.

Palmer Independent School District has narrowed down a list of 60 candidates for their open superintendent position. The district, with approximately 1,338 students, has three campuses at the elementary, middle school and high school levels.

Back-to-School giveaways, benefits expand

Dr. Greg Bradley begins his tenure as the new superintendent of the Ennis Independent School District beginning Tuesday, May 27, at the downtown Central Offices.

Former Ellis County Judge Todd Little began as the new Executive Director of the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) on Thursday, May 15, in Arlington. He follows Mike Eastland in becoming the organization’s third Executive Director in its 59-year history.

St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church recognized area graduates with a specially planned day for about 50 teenagers last week. Fr. John Dick and youth minister José Luque led Mass and a dinner for the teenagers, who were students at local high schools.
