Five individual bands from Ennis ISD earned sweepstakes award in a recent event held by the University Interscholastic League. Three of the bands were comprised of high school students with two representing the junior high.

ERSPA’s April meeting was held Thursday, April 4th, in their new meeting location, EISD Transportation Facility The theme of the day was the Eclipse Over Ennis! BettyAnn Blazek and Janet Raburn provided everyone present with an Eclipse Survival Kit - Eclipse Viewing Glasses, Moon Pies, Sunkist Orange Drinks and Eclipse Gum. How fun!!! The group was also honored with a district update by EISD Supt. Jay Tullos and a most interesting and informative program presented by Christen Rudd, Ennis Cares Coordinator. Regular business was discussed including many volunteer possibilities available. Even more fun items were given out as door prizes.

In addition, authors of a 2022 study published in the journal Urban Forestry & Urban Greening concluded that gardening during the COVID-19 pandemic helped people cope with coronavirus- related stress through outdoor activity.

The Internal Revenue Service reports that the deadline to file a 2023 tax return is Monday, April 15, 2024. The vast majority of taxpayers will have no issue filing by the deadline, but some may not be able to file on time. In such instances, taxpayers can apply for an extension of time to file.

Locals will be pleased to know that Lake Bardwell and Richland Chambers reservoir in Corsicana, are scheduled this year to be restocked with Sunshine Bass - white bass and striped bass hybrid.
