The Ennis Historical Society, formerly known as the Heritage Society, last week hosted a lecture at the Ennis Railroad and Cultural Heritage Museum on an aspect of local interest.

The corner of Baylor and North Dallas is where Gerald Weatherall, Sr.’s fourth branch of Eternal Rest Funeral Homes is located. And, coming in 2022, they will have a new home in Ennis.

A longtime favorite of locals and passersby on I-45, Bubba’s BBQ & Steakhouse, was purchased by John Meager on July 4, 2019.

One of the Ennis Post Office’s earliest known mail carriers was Ambrose (“A.B.”) Ross. Born in Tennessee in 1864 he moved to Ennis in 1891.

Sports weren’t integrated in 1931 but that didn’t stop a local team, the Ennis Colored Eagles, from establishing a stellar reputation. The team’s games were often featured in the Ennis Daily News as well as in Dallas papers. Coached by C.C.

Toys and gifts from the Salvation Army were delivered to the First United Methodist Church yesterday for distribution to families who signed up for the Angel Tree earlier this fall.

For their October meeting, member of the Ennis Century Club met in the home of Cynthia Newsome with Kathy Morse presiding. Rachael Bishop assisted Mrs. Newsome as hostess. A buffet was served in the dining area of the home prior to the meeting.
