Ranked No. 1 in the state among Class 5A teams, Ennis will play its most important game of the season so far next Thursday, Nov. 19, when they take on unbeaten North Forney at City Bank Stadium (8,894 cap.).

Local Justice of the Peace Chris Macon swears in the two election day winners, Kelly McManus (center) and Tommy Aguilar (right), to the EISD Board of Trustee members. For McManus, this starts his third straight term. Aguilar begins his first. 

Southwestern Assemblies of God University, the only four-year college in Ellis County, has experienced good fortune during the 2020 coronavirus pandemic.

A dozen car burglaries outside of the Comfort Suites, 400 S. I-45, in Ennis, took place Tuesday night, Nov. 10, according to EPD Captain Mike Hopson. No arrests have been made so far.

The World War II Pearl Harbor hero Doris “Dorie” Miller (1919- 1943), the first African American to be awarded the Navy Cross for valor, was honored earlier this year by the U.S. Navy with an aircraft carrier named for him.

The final two months of the year are traditionally filled with a number of opportunities to celebrate with family, friends and co-workers. Of course, 2020 has been anything but a traditional year, thanks in no small part to the ongoing pandemic.

After nearly twelve years in operation, FirstLook Boutique of Ennis will be closing its doors on December 31. The boutique has served to provide financial support for the mission of FirstLook Center, which first opened in 2009.
