Ennis firefighters train for rope rescue

A recent rescue of a semitruck driver, whose cab was dangling precariously over the side of a bridge above the Ohio River, inspired onlookers and was broadcast on nationwide television. The driver of the Sysco truck was extricated by a specialized team from the Louisville (Kentucky) Fire Department by executing a high-angle rescue.

Shoop performs tuba recital at Navarro

Former veteran Ennis band instructor, Dr. Stephen Shoop, was featured in a tuba faculty recital at the Caston Fine Arts Center on the campus of Navarro College in Corsicana. The 30-minute performance, included accompaniment on piano by Dr. Amanda Hughes, who is also on the music faculty.
