Ennis and fashion? Believe it or not, a hundred years ago the Bluebonnet City was not only a national center for cotton production but its many dry goods merchants were regular seasonal visitors to the fashion hub of New York City.

Ennis people and events have often made regional, even national, news. And on occasion, a note of levity marked the various stories of local interest that appeared in daily and weekly newspapers across the country. A couple of years ago I first shared some of these funny bits from the past and I was asked recently to collect a few more. I was happy to oblige and in fact very much enjoyed turning up some of these new additions.

Congratulations to the 2021 National Polka Festival King and Queen - Samuel and Olivia Zmolik. Prince is Troy Glenn and Princess is Clarissa Alexander! 

Ennis High School held commencement exercises a week ago, presenting graduates from the Class of 2021. It was an evening sure to make maroon-loving alumni proud to relate to the current cast of seniors.
