The house pictured above was built by Alonzo Hartman Rowe before 1901. It was located at 308 W. Knox, where the post office back parking lot is. As you can see it was an ornate structure, but due to disrepair had to be torn down sometime in the early 1960s, when the post office expanded.

Growth in Ellis County has spurred the need for a new sub-courthouse, where the current Justice of the Peace will function. On October 20, Ellis County Judge Todd Little, the four Ellis County Commissioners, and McGough Construction met to host a groundbreaking ceremony on the south side of U.S. 287-Business near Waxahachie High School.

One of the City’s most upstanding citizens, Jimmy Boon, was recognized on Tuesday, November 7, by the Ennis Masonic Lodge No. 369 as the 2023 Community Builder Award.
