Thursday roundtable left field needing separation

Ellis County’s Grand Old Party hosted a public candidate forum bringing together the three Republicans seeking the party’s nomination for Ellis County Judge. The event in Ovilla drew about 250 residents from across the county who were interested in hearing directly from the trio ahead of the upcoming primary on March 3.

In August of 2027, the Waxahachie Independent School District will open its second public high school, Waxahachie Creek, which will serve up to 3,200 students. Located on the southern end of town near Lake Waxahachie and just east of I-35, the WISD approved the mascot and school colors after a year of consideration.

Greater Ennis Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a candidate forum at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 8, at the SPJST Lodge. The 120-minute session will take place at 1901 E. Ennis Avenue, approximately a mile east of I-45.

Campaigning for the Ennis area County Commissioner seat in Precinct 2 is Matthew Zajic. A lifelong local resident, the 30-year-old is a farmer and rancher.

City of Ennis staff and commissioners have been called to a special meeting on Tuesday, January 6, at the behest of City Manager Andrea Weckmueller-Behringer and Economic Development Director Miriam Castillo.
