Excitement was in the air across Ennis on Thursday as students, small and tall, were in the halls. Like a fall kickoff, wearing new duds and backpacks, the fresh beginning was a welcomed relief to the summer heat.

Ennis teachers, staff and administration packed the auditorium on Tuesday morning, Aug. 2, for an energetic convocation. There were approximately 900 in attendance. Kicking off the start of the new school year was an inspiring, keynote speaker, a former coach in college and the NFL, Daron K. Roberts.

Three convenient cuisine eateries are coming to Ennis, each at active thoroughfares. Current and future growth are evident in their choice of locations.

Gubernatorial candidate Beto O’Rourke will make his only Ellis County campaign appearance at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 7, in downtown Waxahachie.
