Two months after having no need to hold an election for school board positions, the Ennis ISD now has a void among their seven trustees after Julie Pierce submitted a resignation letter. A veteran of nine years on the board, she was also the vice president.

The Ennis Public Theatre (EPT), 113 N. Dallas St., is gearing up for its next production, The Book Club Play, set to run August 11-14 and August 18-21. Tickets to The Book Club Play go on sale July 25. The public may purchase tickets online at www.ennispublictheatre.com or can call the box office at 972- 878-7529.

Residents of Ennis are probably familiar with the Schanfish family, whether it’s Greg, a prison chaplain, or his wife, Marcie, a local lawyer and president of the Rotary Club, or their four grown children, all over 20. But it is their youngest, Kendall, who could run for mayor.

Jessica Diaz, the Ennis Public Library director, is busy during the months kids are out of school by inviting wellreceived performers who offer a mix of interests as part of the Summer Reading Program.

Schreiner University student Porfirio Mendez, an Ennis High School graduate, was among others who recently earned academic honors at the independent coeducational liberal arts university in Kerrville, Texas.

There is much to look forward to when springs arrives. Daily hours of sunlight increase while temperatures continue to climb. Blooming flowers and leaves budding on trees also add some awe-inspiring color back into the landscape. Even though there’s much to enjoy about spring, one side effect of so much foliage in bloom is the return of seasonal spring allergies.
