Two months after having no need to hold an election for school board positions, the Ennis ISD now has a void among their seven trustees after Julie Pierce submitted a resignation letter. A veteran of nine years on the board, she was also the vice president.

The Ennis Public Theatre (EPT), 113 N. Dallas St., is gearing up for its next production, The Book Club Play, set to run August 11-14 and August 18-21. Residents of Ennis are probably familiar with the Schanfish family, whether it’s Greg, a prison chaplain, or his wife, Marcie, a local lawyer and president of the Rotary Club, or their four grown children, all over 20. But it is their youngest, Kendall, who could run for mayor.
