Whenever local history is discussed, a common topic is the razing of Ennis’ most prestigious old home, the Cerf Mansion, in 1969, a time when commercial progress was in the forefront and preservation rarely considered. Lately, false information has made the rounds and it’s essential that some facts are revisited and myths are dispelled. This article originally ran in the Ennis News in 2015 and it has since been updated.

Memorial Day ceremonies set for May 30
Area residents as well as military veterans are invited to attend two Memorial Day ceremonies in Ennis on Monday, May 30. The first is slated for Ennis Veterans Park at 11 a.m., the second is part of a new, national initiative, called Taps Across America, at 3 p.m., at Pierce Park, 200 NW Main St., in downtown Ennis.
