Wrong-way driver kills local teen
An Aug. 1 (Saturday morning) traffic accident involving three vehicles on southbound I-45 in Trumbull, south of Ferris in Ellis County, claimed the life of a 17-year old local student. According to Sara Warren of the Texas Department of Public Safety, a wrong-way driver crashed head-on with a single passenger vehicle before being hit by a pickup truck.
A walk in the park
Taking a stroll around the lake at Lions Park on Thursday was fun for those who went voluntarily and otherwise, as expressed by Brenda and John Griffin. She is a retired Palmer ISD teacher while John prefers a recliner and a cold beverage. Over 40, mostly women over 50 (though some were a year or so younger) comprised the new group, coordinated as the Silver Steppers by new Ennis Recreation Manager, David Casarez.
Harrell named to Texas Tech Hall of Fame
Record-setting All-State quarterback Graham Harrell and his top threat at wide receiver, Michael Crabtree, will enter the Texas Tech Sports Hall of Fame together this fall according to an announcement by the Double-T Varsity Club. The football tandem and five other stars from athletics will soon be enshrined.
