Pet owners go to great lengths to treat their animals well. When a pet is ill, the animal may exhibit signs of anxiety and upset. However, sometimes it is not so easy to detect that something is awry with a pet, even if the animal is in pain.

Backpacks are useful tools for students and adults alike. From hiking supplies to school books to sports equipment, backpacks can store just about anything.

In the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak, many schools hastily transitioned from traditional inperson learning to remote learning. This transition posed new and unique challenges to educators as well as students and their parents.

Millions of people found themselves out of work as efforts to curtail the spread of the novel coronavirus CO-VID-19 took a toll on the economy.

Much anticipated, the start of the new school year has gone very well at local campuses, including Ennis, which began on Thursday, Aug. 20. Superintendents report temporary glitches, including internet issues, but they were quickly resolved.

A year sure to be chronicled for the impact of a worldwide virus which questioned whether schools would convene this fall, approaches the first day of students and staff wearing masks, the ringing of bells, social distancing and with a third of the Ennis roll-call taking place at home for online classes.

EISD Superintendent Jay Tullos relates well to any White House Press Secretery in the role of answering a myriad of questions, rapid-fire, hopefully with queries less lethal than fiery darts. He spoke this week by responding to the most often-asked questions in what is a most unusual season.

Five local citizens are running for two seats on the Ennis Independent School District Board of Trustees. The election will be held during the general election in early November. The campaign was originally set for the spring but was postponed by Gov. Greg Abbott due to the coronavirus shutdown.
