At the same time, Jesus ignores or openly contradicts the many “two steps backwards” texts. He never quotes the book of Numbers, for example, which is rather ritualistic and legalistic. He never quotes Joshua or Judges which are full of sanctified violence. Basically, Jesus doesn’t quote from his own scriptures when they are punitive, imperialistic or exclusive. In fact, he teaches the opposite.

University of Wisconsin at Whitewater announced this week that Ennis native Matt Bechdel has graduated during their winter commencement, held December 16, 2023. He was one of 620 to earn the honor, which was held at Kachel Fieldhouse in the Williams Center.

Two area students, one each from Ennis and Ferris, received degrees during the 2023 Fall semester at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville.

City of Ennis residents will head to the polls to elect a new mayor as well as vote for Commissioners in at least one Ward this spring.
