Joanne Marion Haugseth Whitfill, loving wife, passed away on May 9, 2023. Joanne was born to Gus and Marion Haugseth, in Wisconsin, on May 19, 1941. Joanne grew up in southern California with her sister, Lynn Mattison, and stepfather, Olaf Mattison. By divine power, peering over the backyard fence, she met the love of her life, Preston A Whitfill who she let know that she was almost 16 and could have a boyfriend. At this point, she would latch on to him and never let him go…..she picked him!

Mary F. Tignor was united with Jesus on May 1, 2023. She was born in Texas to Minnie Lee and Curtis Lee Cook. An Ennis, Texas girl through and through, she lived in and loved her home in Rice.

Mark Steven Rogers, 61, of Ennis, received his healing and reward as he transitioned from this world to Heaven on May 5, 2023, at his home surrounded by family. Mark is survived by his wife, Paula, and four children, Steven, Brad and his wife Jody, Kandice and her husband Taylor Hardy, Cory, and Rachel Rushing, his daughter-in-love; grandchildren Bailey, Charlie, Joel, Jonah, and Judah; siblings Judy and J. B. Marshall, Kathy and Rodney Venable, Jo Rogers, Sonny Rogers, Gale and E.L. Sublett, and Penny Novak; and a large extended family.

Geraldine Joan Flynt, 82, passed away peacefully in her sleep in Ennis, Texas, on Sunday, April 23, 2023. Joan was born in Austin, Texas on March 17, 1941, to Cecil Pierce and Lora Lee Purcell Culpepper. Geraldine Joan and her twin brother, Gerald Gene “Johnny” come from a long line of twins. Their mother, Lora Lee had an identical twin sister, Laura Mae. Lora and Laura had a set of twin brothers, Wilbert Levi “Will” and Charles Albion Purcell, and their father, James Albert Purcell had a twin brother, also named Charles Albion Purcell. Joan was also the mother of twin boys, Robbie Wayne and Robert Layne and she had twin nephews, Kevin Dwain and Erik Shane Culpepper.

Ricardo Castillo, 76, went to be with our Lord on April 24, 2023. He was born in Ennis, Texas on February 26, 1947 to Raymundo and Josefa Castillo. He resided in Ennis for most of his life. Ricardo was a proud member of the United States Army for a brief time beginning in 1966.

Stanley Dubec was a week shy of celebrating his 80th birthday when his Savior called him Home. Growing up on a cotton farm in Needville, Texas, his strong Catholic upbringing provided great faith. After a brief stint with the Army National Guard, Stanley developed a passion for construction. His work ethics and skills not only served him well as an equipment operator and craftsman, but also provided his sons with life examples and traits. A hardworking, honest, but stubborn man, his need to get the job done right was very important to him, whether it was on his tractor, in his yard, or building things for his grandkids. An excellent wood worker, he poured his heart into building shelves, toy boxes, tables, and playhouses.

Caroline Ann Rejcek, age 76, was born on April 15, 1946, in Ennis, Texas, to Dorothy and Willie “Bill” Zaidle. She peacefully passed in the comfort of her home into the arms of her Lord and Savior on April 11, 2023. She grew up as a young girl in Ennis, Texas. She tells stories about having to “hide from the revenuers” in a secret compartment in the floor when she was about four or five years old at her uncle’s moonshine still site. As she grew her family later moved to Lancaster, Texas where she helped her grandparents with their grocery store. She told us that she remembers slicing lunchmeats and handing out candy to children behind that counter. She graduated from Lancaster High School in 1964.

Danny Lee Zaidle Sr., 71, passed away and went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday March 30, 2023. Danny was born to Leon and Mary Sue (Chandler) Zaidle on 4 February 1952 in Ennis, Texas. He grew up in Garland and graduated from Garland High School in 1969 and then completed carpentry apprenticeship school. On February 27, 1970 he married Sheila Ann Dickson and they made their home in Garland-Mesquite before moving to Ennis in 1981.
