One of my wife’s favorite sayings, which we heard from a pastor some time ago, is that “Your most important contribution in life might not be something you do, but someone you raise.” We both love that quote and we are praying that our kids will grow up to be world changers for Christ. Further, I think that quote could be altered to simply say that your most important contribution in life might not be something you do, but someone you disciple.

For holiday houseguests in my Alabama home-away-from-home, I was putting fresh sheets on three beds when one guest offered to help. An extra set of hands, arms and legs really can make a difference when a fitted sheet is stubborn and unwilling…and aren’t all fitted sheets stubborn and unwilling?

Who, in their right mind, would ever turn down a massage? Not me. Dr. Gary Chapman wrote about the five love languages being words of affirmation, acts of service, receiving gifts, quality time, and physical touch. Two of them work well for me, though neither are listed in his best-selling book – watching football and leaving me the heck alone. So, let’s move right along, shall we?

While a person may buy a cake here in Mexico seven days a week from early morning to late at night, getting any other kind of dessert is more challenging.

In my phone, I saved the husband’s name followed by this endearing message, “Favorite Husband.”

Harkening back to one of my first fights, it occurred in our garage with my next door neighbor friend. We were in junior high, which will explain our willingness to throw-down, and, to this day, we still can’t recall the reason.

My husband, Peter, and I landed in Mexico again, and we did what we have done in the past. We bought an enormous cake. It’s nice to have a cake in the house. I have discovered it is not necessarily a good idea to eat cake every day, as it eventually makes my clothes too small. But I do like cake, and I especially like Mexican cake, and more than anything, I like giving cake away.

There are days when it is obvious that I should refrain from saying anything. I should claim laryngitis and make hand motions because my filter is all worn out: I’m a threat to say something I shouldn’t. Further, my enthusiasm for all the eccentricities of this world has waned.

Since you were conceived God has wanted your attention. He has never neglected or ignored you. If you were to write down all the blessings and victories He has given over the years, they would prove He has been guiding and helping you all along. How could any of us even consider we were created by chance? The truth is that God specifically called you and has many wonderful things planned for your future. You are His masterpiece.
