Local designer, Theresa Giron, hosts 4-day show

An initial hearing in the City of Ennis’ lawsuit against Ennis Main Street 501(c)(3), A/K/A Destination Ennis Inc., was held at 40th District Court in Waxahachie. Judge Bob Carroll met lawyers for both sides on Thursday, Oct. 2; Kevin McCurley, of Messer Fort law firm, represented City of Ennis, while Destination Ennis was the client of Marcie Schanfish.

Ennis Mayor Kameron Raburn announced his candidacy for Ellis County Judge at the countywide Republican party meeting on October 7. The up-and-coming 31-yearold is campaigning on a track record of delivering conservative governance with a history of transparency and is committed to exposing and eliminating corruption, fraud, waste, and abuse.

Showcasing their skills on the gridiron, the Ennis Marching Band took fourth in last Saturday’s Midlothian Marching Showcase. They were third during the preliminary round at the MISD Multi-Purpose Stadium.

Tuesday’s announcement by current Ennis Mayor Kameron Raburn that he is launching a campaign for the Ellis County Judge position set in motion another election, the one to succeed his soon-to-be-vacant position at City Hall.

City Commissioners met on October 7 to conduct the business of Ennis with Mayor Pro Tem Lynda Isbell leading with the gavel. She managed the agenda competently in her first foray in charge, as Mayor Kameron Raburn was absent. It was his only missed meeting in his 18 months at the wheel.

(AUSTIN) — Acting Texas Comptroller Kelly Hancock today announced the Texas Opioid Abatement Fund Council (OAFC or the Council) has voted to award 109 grants totaling $21.2 million to entities across Texas responding to the opioid crisis. This vote marks a major accomplishment for the program.
