Texas Education Agency accountability ratings have been published, and Rice High School, just 10 miles south of Ennis in Navarro County, topped all of Ellis County with an A grade with Palmer and Midlothian each garnering B. This was the first time TEA had released state-wide ratings since 2019.

Area towns with more on the ballot

A gathering of servant leaders, some of them ministers, met downtown on Thursday as part of the National Day of Prayer. Following singa- long worship, led by Matt Walker, the pastor at Anthony Drive Baptist Church, a season of topical prayers invited a crowd of approximately 50+ to participate. Children, teenagers and adults of all ages joined in for an hour of intercessory prayer.

Waxahachie City Federation of Women’s Clubs annually recognizes “Women of the Year,” and recently announced their current list of honorees. The group included two women who are from Ennis.

Led by a live band and a cast of 25 graduating seniors, the Ennis Choir welcomes everyone to their final event, next Saturday, May 3rd in the spring concert.

For the fifth consecutive year, Destination Ennis presents its annual Cinco de Mayo Festival. Scheduled for Sunday, May 4, entertainment and vendors will unite from 1-9pm in downtown Ennis under the theme; Viva La Cultura or Long Live the Culture.
