I-45 truck fire
On Thursday, a gravel truck with an empty trailer caught fire on I-45 near the 251 mile marker. Detecting smoke and an odor of fuel, the driver immediately pulled over. Upon inspection, he discovered the truck was on fire. He attempted to extinguish it with an onboard extinguisher, but the fire was too far advanced. Ennis Fire Engine No. 192, Truck 191 and Battalion 191 arrived and extinguished the fire. Fire Chief Bill Evans reported the truck was a total loss, though the driver did not require hospitalization.

In June, we observe Headache and Migraine Awareness Month, a time to recognize that many are living with this most common nervous system disorder. We have all had a headache here and there, however, for several the headaches might worsen and develop into a migraine. According to Elaine Montemayor-Gonzalez, Texas A&M AgriLife Program Specialist, “Symptoms such as sensitivities to light, smell, and sound are triggers of migraines, but believe it or not, many migraine symptoms are triggered by food or an individual’s diet”.
Seven tips to stay safe during the summer heat
AUSTIN— The dog days of summer have certainly arrived, and with the soaring temperatures Texas State Parks is sharing seven tips to help Texans enjoy time outdoors safely. Last year, 47 state parks reported 141 heat-related illnesses in humans and pets. Since January 1, 77 heat-related incidents have already been reported, compared to 64 reported by this time last year.
