Remembering the fallen
The Ennis Rotary Club has posted American flags throughout the city, including the entrance at Myrtle Cemetery on W. Knox Street. Honoring those who sacrificed their life for the USA, Memorial Day is an annual day of significance. To heighten awareness of the meaning of the day, poppy blossoms are distributed and worn. They became a symbol when fields of red poppies inspired a 1915 poem, “In Flander Fields,” by Canadian Army Col. John McCrae.
