National Voter Registration Day, Sept. 17

Ellis County residents seeking to vote in the General Election on November 5, which includes the presidential election, must register to vote by October 7. According to Jana Onyon, the Election Administrator in the county, all unregistered citizens can join thousands of others to take part in the celebration of National Voter Registration Day on September 17. This is a nonpartisan civic holiday that aims to help all eligible voters participate in our democracy.

Ward 1 Commissioner campaign has two hopefuls

Austin Estes and Catharine Falkenbach will be on the November 5 ballot when eligible voters head to the polls to elect a City Commissioner to represent Ward 1. The deadline to enter was Thursday, August 29. According to City Secretary Angie Ward, the elections administrator, the cutoff point came to a close with only two hopefuls entering the race.
