It is no surprise that families interest in homeschooling has piqued. Like a suspenseful movie trailer increases your curiosity, a level of excitement can accompany the interest to such a level that one would seriously consider the subject.

People today are as uptight as a long-tailed cat in a room filled with rocking chairs. Officially, folks are woke. Grammatically it means “past of wake.” The expression “stay woke” refers to a continual awareness of societal injustice, primarily racism. Some people are so woke they see offenses everywhere, every day and by everyone.

My mother never watched soap operas.

In what has been a most contentious political environment, one that has lasted the entire four-year term of Republican President Donald Trump, there is a strong push from one party to make mail-in voting the solution to the fears of catching the coronavirus while at polling stations on Nov. 3.

Have you ever gone to your favorite eating place only to discover they have changed the menu and their top dish has disappeared? Or gone to a drinking hole and were told they no longer serve the only beverage you order?

Response to the coronavirus continues to make a wide impact on the world, and those in governmental leadership have born the brunt of the weight. In America they have become glaring targets due to the lack of clarity from the scientific and medical community.

Four years ago in a column here, this writer dismissed two Republican candidates early in the race, both of whom in the months ahead would take the lead, much to my surprise. Donald Trump and Ben Carson were credited then, in this column, as possibly being the best people for the job, but, as non-politicians they stood little chance.

Shortly after I said, “I do,” I realized a noticeable shortcoming in the marriage vows. There was no mention of how to react when the husband didn’t come home in a reasonable time frame after a fishing trip.
