A high-spirited woman known locally as a server at a popular restaurant died suddenly last week and her effervescent personality is being mourned across the city.

A decade without any housing or apartment additions in Ennis, has witnessed a number of new neighborhoods near the junior and senior high campuses and others along I-45. Spyglass Apartments broke ground and quickly sold out 192 units on W. Ennis at Jeter Dr.

The First Presbyterian Church of Ennis, 210 N. McKinney, hosted a dedication concert for a new Allen pipe organ on June 12th at 4 p.m. A reception followed in the church’s Clarke hall.

For today’s installment of Town Topics, I’m sharing a few news item of local interest from the Ennis Daily News as well as from other papers that carried stories on the Bluebonnet City and its residents.

Pandemic-related direction brought on by the CDC and government required changes that have led to difficult adjustments at schools and the daily norms that have not been altered in decades. Too many of them have apparently made an impact. It hasn’t been positive.

Ferris ISD Superintendent James Hartman introduced Lee Joffre as the new Principal of Ferris High School. Joffre comes to Bricktown with twenty-two years of experience in education, from teaching to campus administration as well as superintendent.

Audubon Texas and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD), partners in the Bird City Texas program (BCT), are now accepting applications from communities that wish to receive Bird City Texas certification.
