Students excel in current events, writing
Two standout Ennis High School students ended the school year by competing at the University Interscholastic League State Academics in Austin. Senior Reid White garnered second place in Current Issues and Events, while Kimberly Morales, a junior, narrowly missed a Top Six finish while writing an essay in the Ready Writing division.

Putting on the 150-year ritz
Area residents and well-wishers from across the county were on hand Wednesday as Ennis turned 150 years old, which turns out, is much preferred to pronouncing sesquicentennial. With apologies to Dick Van Dyke and Janet Leigh in the 1963 musical, Bye Bye Birdie, putting on a happy face was a cinch with free hot dogs, snow cones, cupcakes and cookies.
