Storms wreak havoc, claim one life

Strong storms rolled through the area last weekend, wreaking havoc in the Ennis and Palmer area. A 42-yearold man died and three members of his family were injured when winds flipped their RV several times at the Texas Motorplex on the west side of town.

Sand Lake to receive THC historical marker

The Texas Historical Commission (THC) has recognized the former community of Sand Lake in Ellis County as a significant part of Texas history by awarding it an Official Texas Historical Marker. The designation honors Sand Lake as an important and educational part of local history. A dedication ceremony to commemorate the event is planned for Saturday, March 22, 2025, at 10 a.m. The ceremony and reception will be held at The Telico Gin, 948 Kirkpatrick Road, Ennis, Texas 75119.
