Blooming stars who put Ennis on the state map 75 years ago, the Garden Club was honored on Tuesday for their decades of service to citizens and visitors far and near.

Shopping at the Bluebonnet Market begins afresh in two-weeks, and like a long-running Broadway musical, the 8am-til-noon hit enters its 12th season in downtown Ennis. Perhaps the best farmers market in Ellis County, vendors can still set-up their booth, free-of-charge, starting on April 5.

Ennis Public Library will host the final in the winter lecture series by the Ennis Heritage Society at 6pm on Thursday, March 20. Admission is free and the public is invited inside the recently renovated EPL Community Room, 500 W. Ennis Avenue.

Ennis’ cherished son, Lieutenant Jack Lummus of the United States Marine Corp, died in combat on March 8, 1945. A wreath was placed at his cemetery marker in Ennis this week.
