Previewing May 2nd General Elections
Assuming there was a winner in the March 14 runoff between Chad Wester and David Espedal, the victor earned the unexpired term of Mayor Pro Tem in Ennis. The not-so-good news is the term lasts until the end of April 2026, or seven weeks. A new three-year term will be up for grabs on Saturday, May 2, as part of the General Election.

Ellis County Democrats vote for Crockett
A sizeable crowd of Ellis County Democrats, 18,806, including 12,477 voting early, turned out at the regularly Republican dominated poll to vote in favor of Jasmine Crockett in the United States Senatorial race. More than 70 percent (13,085) chose the former State Representative over James Talarico (5,449 votes), though the latter won statewide, 52.5% to 46.2.
Tribe elevate Williams to head coach
Following a unanimous 7-0 vote by the Waxahachie ISD school board, on February 9, the district elevated Lawrence Williams from Defensive Coordinator to the head coach of the Indians football team. He served as DC during the last four years under previous HC Shane Tolleson, who resigned to accept an offer from perennial power Denton Ryan.

Six weeks after the city held a Special Election to name a new Mayor-Pro-Tem and Mayor, Ennis is back at the polls for a runoff. Next Saturday, March 14, from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m., registered voters who live in the city limits, have only one race, between David Espedal and Chad Wester. Both are Ennis natives and are seeking the unexpired term of Mayor-Pro-Tem.
