Playing Show-and-Tell on the Big Stage
The annual crowd-pleaser by students and faculty during the Ennis ISD Showcase brought smiles and built bridges to hundreds and hundreds on Thursday night. Campus visits and introductions to sports, clubs and organizations as well as rousing performances by an elementary All-Star choir, the band, cheerleaders, Lionettes, even photo ops with the Lions mascots made it a memorable night.

Many have noticed City of Ennis construction activity at Rotary Park, formerly Jaycee Park, where a splash pad and restrooms are being installed and will be completed by this summer.

Ellis County launches property fraud alert system
Criminal use of the internet by hackers and thieves is a constant worry for consumers. On most occasions, people worry about their identity being stolen and used for fraudulent purposes. A recent new crime has evolved where criminals can access your property title, assume the title and cost you your equity and possibly your home. Ellis County Clerk, Krystal Valdez announces the new, free service of the county clerk’s office, called Property Fraud Alert, to monitor your name and property title for any possible fraudulent use.
Hinds pledges respect, fairness in courtroom
When Ellis County decided the time had come to begin using County Court at Law No. 3, the vacant facility would need a full-time judge to handle a full docket of misdemeanor trials. Constructed at the same time as Courts No. 1 and No. 2, the third courtroom has two candidates campaigning to wear its robe and gavel.
Scrumptious Sweet Nothings
Oh my goodness, who doesn’t crave sweets? I surely do, even if I admit to not having a dessert every day. For me, it’s not essential. What are essential to me are savory dishes – that’s just me, I guess. But let me tell you, at least once a week, maybe more, I surely do indulge. It may only be a scoop of ice cream or a chocolatecovered cherry and I’m satisfied. I feel I’ve had my decadence and can then get my mind back on other, more important things.
